“Hmmm!” Amos 3:3
“Hmmm!””Can two walk together, except they be agreed?”
Amos 3:3
Yes, that title is a word, according to the Collegiate
Dictionary! It means, used to express the action or process of
thinking. Now, what do you think of that? Sadly, a lot of
people today don’t do a lot of thinking or better put, thinking
for themselves. They listen to the political pundits or the
sports commentators, and whatever they hear they assume it to
be true and then they parrot the pomposity of these people.
(Let alone what the politicians have to say in either party!)
This verse is very familiar to most Bible readers and
faithful attendees to church. If you stand for truth,
righteousness, holiness and other identifiers of men and
women of faith, you will have great difficulty walking or
fellowshipping with liars, unrighteous and unholy people.
Really, it is easier to be a witness to lost, godless sinners,
befriending them to faith in Christ, than it is to walk, arm-in-
arm with backslidden, sorry saints! Paul, in I Corinthians 5:9-
11 dealt with this in efficient detail, right down to the dinner
table. As much as some folk like to eat, this is a good diet to go
on, not eating with ” … any man that is called a brother … ” that
commits any one of the six sins that are listed, the apostle said
” … with such an one no not to eat.” (vs. 11). Hmmm! We are
to talk the talk and walk the walk, ” … be ye followers of me”
said Brother Paul — (I Cor. 4:16b). Hmmm! -T.G.
