He connected himself with the church at Antioch, Upson Co., April 3, 1827, and soon began to ‘preach. He settled in Carroll County in 1842, and was ordained at Carrollton church in 1850. For the next twelve years of his life he labored as a missionary of the Domestic Board of the South- ern Baptist Convention, in Western Georgia and Kastern Alabama, and then, for the five succeeding years, he was an associational missionary. Since that time rheumatism has laid its hands heavily upon him, disabling him from all active work, and he has simply preached wherever an opportunity has been afforded. His controlling desire is to win souls to Jesus, and to accomplish this he is instant in season and out of season. His has been a life of faithful service in the face of many disadvan- tages and discouragements. From the Baptist Encyclopedia by William Cathcart
