“How Sinful is Your Sin?”
“How Sinful is Your Sin?”
” … But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me
by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might
become exceeding sinful.” Romans 7:13b
Sin today has become more the norm than the exception.
Sin has been pampered, like a new born baby, instead of dealt
with by a spiritual surgeon, attempting to keep an aging adult
alive with terminal cancer! Putting spiritual band-aids on a
bleeding, carnally afflicting gun-shot wound is a waste of
time, and deadly to the victims of ministerial malpractice!
Initially, sin must become “exceeding sinful” to preachers
in the pulpit. One “infamous” tel-evangelist (what a
disgraceful term for this charlatan) when asked if he ever
mentioned sin in his sermons exclaimed, “No, people are
hurting too much … ” (the rest of his drivel is a waste of paper,
ink and your time). God help us preachers to stand in our God-
given pulpits and thunder out against the sins of our nation and
those who brazenly practice such that sit in our pews! (see any
social media platform). The sin, unconfessed sin of God’s
people is a shame to the sinner, a black mark on the church
Christ purchased on Calvary, and intimately to the local
assembly they attend. They also grieve the Holy Ghost and
break the heart of God! Let alone stop one’s prayers from
being answered. Remember, ” … sin is a reproach to any
people” (Pro. 14:34a). It is vitally necessary that we deal with
sin ruthlessly in our day. Jesus said that the men of Nineveh
repented at Jonah’s preaching and closed with, ” … and,
behold, a greater than Jonas is here.” Repentance, true
repentance of sin and sins is always a precursor to revival, and
God knows this old country and our churches need
