No God? – Psalm 53:1a
“No God?”
“The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God …. “
Psalm 53:1a
I heard a preacher say recently that he saw a bumper
sticker that read, “If you live like there is NO GOD-You
better be right!” One might live like a libertine here and hope
there is no afterlife; however, the Bible calls that man a fool.
Anyone who has done any consistent witnessing for Christ has
heard blasphemous statements like, “There is no God,” “There
is no Hell,” “This is all there is,” etc. Frankly, and it really is
not the soundest of theology, but, “I’d rather just be safe than
sorry!” As you well know our faith is not built on the shifting
sand of”safe than sorry” but on the verities, the fact, that Jesus
Christ died, was buried and rose again to provide mankind
with the blessed hope of eternal salvation. What Christ Jesus
did on Calvary is, was, and always will be enough to save
every sinner in the world.
Mark wrote in chapter four and verse twenty-three of his
book of the Gospels, “If any man have ears to hear, let him
hear. ” In my lifetime of preaching, I have known many deaf
people that have been saved. They had no auditory ability to
hear but they “heard” through sign language. I was preaching
long ago and a long-haired, young college boy came to Christ
and was saved. He soon got a haircut and to everyone’s shock,
he had no ears! Here was a man with no ears but he had the
good sense to come to God, putting his faith in Christ. It is not
just the ear that hears the Gospel, it’s “with the heart man
believeth unto righteousness; … (Rom. 10:10a). – T.G.
