“Temptation”
“And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being
deceived was in the transgression. ” I Timothy 2:14

It is extremely noteworthy that the first, great temptation
takes place next to the first notice of the great tempter (cf. Gen.
3:1ff). Friend, you and I need to learn when we can count on
the devil leaping into our lives! There are at least three times
in the Bible that Satan steps on the scene with great influence
in a saint’s life.
The devil slyly infiltrates the life of the believer when they
are tempted. It was a question mark that was used as an
upside-down hook (then and now) that possessed the bait that
wrecked the human race. Eve made three major mistakes
when Mr. Temptation knocked on her door. 1. She listened
(Gen. 3:1), 2. She looked (vs. 6), 3. She lunched (vs. 6b). You
won’t sing the siren’s song, when you understand that Satan
wrote the sheet music (James 1:3).
The devil approaches subtly the life of the believer when they
are trusted (Job 1:8-12). God wasn’t afraid to allow Satan access to
His servant, Job, because He knew he wasn’t just a “Sunday-go-to-
meeting” man. Often the dedication of one’s walk determines the
directness of the enemy’s warfare (I Cor. 16:9).
Finally, the devil steps into the life of the believer when
they are tried (Luke 4:2a). Even when it came to the Son of
God, Satan attempted to take advantage, with no sleep and an
empty stomach! The child of God needs to keep their guard up
when after a triumph, and when they are totally exhausted.
