“Sincerity” 1 Corinthians 5:8
“Sincerity”
`…but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. ” 1 Corinthians 5:8
I don’t remember if I heard the following from a soon to be revealed backslidden preacher or if it was a friend quoting someone who was an unscrupulous con-man. After writing those two assumptions, I think it was something Jim Jones said about duping the thousands of people who followed him to the jungles of Guyana and an infamous day of murder and suicide. The sad commentary and dishonest statement is: “The secret to success is sincerity…and once you can successfully fake that…you’ve got it made!”
I think a lot of politicians and Madison Avenue type salesmen have successfully incorporated that philosophy into their sales pitch or policy statements. Sadly, I’m afraid some “slick” preachers also go down this trail of dishonesty. A man of God’s talk should be as “unleavened bread, made up solely of sincerity and truth.” An honest preacher will faithfully break the bread of life and feed the congregation God has assigned to him. The life-giving ingredients of a faithful walk, a victorious life, a whole-soul salvation and the promise of an eternal Home in Heaven, is the message to be given. Sincerity and truth need not be trampled underfoot by deceivers, but thundered from the voice of true and truly sincere men of God. May God help us—everyone! — T.G.
