“Is Your Race A Rat Race?”
“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us. ” Hebrews 12:1
Some witty sage said, “The trouble with joining the rat race is that, even if you win, you are still a rat!” There are millions in this world caught up in the rat race of life. The maze-like roads, by-ways and highways have many trying to make a dollar, secure security or prepare for retirement; and they miss the marks of peace, joy, love and the hope of eternal life through Jesus Christ. In essence, in the race of life, one that does not enjoy the embrace of grace found in Christ Jesus, makes one end up far worse than a rat! They end up as citizens, with other denizens of the damned in a devil’s Hell. God forbid.

The race set before the child of God is not always a primrose path, but the promises of help along the way are perfect and powerful, coming from God’s road map—the Bible. Often, it seems more like a long, slow walk, but we are constantly accompanied by our holy Companion, oft called The Comforter, the Holy Ghost. Personally, I have trod this path for nearly a half century as a child of God, and in the fast, fleeting years to come of life, I will tread the last mile of the way, knowing Jesus will be there and He will accompany me to the mansion He has prepared. He has one for all the saved, and I trust you are. — T.G.
