“A Grand Goal”
“For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put
to silence the ignorance of foolish men:” I Peter 2:15
“The thought of foolishness is sin: … ” Proverbs 24:9a
The Apostle Peter instructs us with a divine truth today
concerning the will of God. He wrote that well doing will
silence the ignorance of men that are bathed or saturated with
foolishness. The wiseman of the Proverbs shouts, “Amen!”
He even goes beyond the act of being ignorant, to the very
thought of foolishness. Perhaps foolish acts and their
appearance are initially born in the minds of the foolish.
I would think Peter and Solomon may have had more than
specific or spiritual examples of foolishness in mind, when
they wrote those words. All of us have done foolish things like
locking yourself out of your car or house. Hey, I don’t want to
go on; make your own list!
However, the ignorance of and the thought of foolishness
are perhaps Siamese twins of foolishness. When it comes to
religion and church affiliations, there are some “faiths” that
the thought of and ignorance of go hand in hand to perdition!
The “Grand Goal” is that by doing well, doing right,
faithfully sowing seeds of kindness and truth as a true
Christian, we can rescue friends, neighbors, relatives and co-
workers from the trail of tears they are on, that leads to an
eternity without Christ, as Lord and Saviour. God help us to
reach the “Grand Goal” of winning souls for Christ!! -T.G.
