“How to Start and End”

“And his disciples remembered that it was written, The
zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.” John 2:17
As a Christian we all have a starting place, the day we were
born again; and we all will have a determined end, either by
death or the Rapture. Personally, I prefer the Rapture. Lots of
people have died. I’d like to experience something new,
different and painless … but, I digress.
John 2:13-17 tells of Jesus cleansing the Temple at the
beginning of His ministry and Matthew 21: 12ff, Mark 11:15ff,
and Luke 19:45-47 record a similar outburst of holy zeal near
the end of Christ’s earthly days.
In contrast to Christ, we came from the fields of sin; He
came from the bowers of Heaven. He came from His Father’s
house; we came to our dad’s home. He was sinless and
perfect; we were born in sin and far from perfect. So, what am
I saying? When you got saved, that was the “real” beginning
of life for you. At the outset of redemption most of you really
“cleaned up your act,” with the help of the indwelling of the
Holy Ghost, another Christian, the Bible and preaching of
same. Those first couple of years most of us eliminated a lot of
trash of the world from our lives. Perhaps now you are aware,
from the doctor’s recent news or the calendar on the wall … it
would be wise to jettison some of the junk that has
accumulated in your life. If you feel hale and hearty,
remember, we all have an appointment we will not avoid,
postpone or miss! (See Heb. 9:27). Your temple may need a
yard sale or just a dumpster will do! -T.G.
