Lacked Nothing!

“For the LORD thy God hath blessed thee in all the works
of thy hand: he knoweth thy walking through this great
wilderness: these forty years the LORD thy God hath been
with thee; thou hast lacked nothing.” Deuteronomy 2:7

Grocery shopping for a family can be very expensive. Just
a few items in the cart, these days, can calculate well into the
triple digits! As the wheels turn up and down the aisles, the
products tend to accumulate until the buggy becomes a
burden. How can we afford all these things? With a sigh of
relief and hearts as full as our cupboards, we again give thanks
to the Lord for meeting our needs.
Moses reminded the Israelites of three important truths
before they crossed the Jordan into Canaan. Though they had
wandered forty years in the wilderness, the Lord had secured
their peace, supported their progress and supplied their
provisions in such dedicated faithfulness, that we read, “thou
hast lacked nothing. ” Nothing they needed had been withheld
from them. The Lord saw that mouth was fed, every thirst was
quenched and every foe was conquered. They lacked nothing!
It is encouraging to know that the same God that cared for
Israel is the same God Who is taking care of us. For forty years
the Lord provided groceries, in the wilderness, for hundreds of
thousands. This testimony alone is all the proof to assure our
hearts that God will satisfy our family’s needs as well. – E.B.
