Do You Love the Brethren? I John 4:21
“Do You Love the Brethren?”
“And this commandment have we from him, That he who
loveth God love his brother also.” I John 4:21
Bible Christians were absorbed, were literally bathed in a
divine love. I do not know of any stronger language found in
the Bible than on the matter of a Christian and Christian love.
I John 2:10 says, “He that loveth his brother abideth in the
light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.” Now
you watch something, this may sound very spectacular to you,
but the Bible says that if you love your brother, it will keep you
from stumbling! And I say Christians who backslide and
stumble, lost their joy and lost the power of God and the peace
of the Lord in their heart, because they were not right in their
feelings and relationship toward other Christians. “He that
loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none
occasion of stumbling in him. ” But it goes on, “But he that
hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and
knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath
blinded his eyes. ” (vs. 11). A Christian that does not have
love, is a Christian, God says in His Holy Book, that is walking
in darkness. And God using this expression, says he doesn’t
even know where he is going. That is true of a Christian that
does not have love in his heart. – T.M.
