3h  · A Tribute to Pastors…Too often I open my social media feed and see a meme or post that is about pastors, and it is a broad stroke generalization that is condemning toward pastors. The writer appears to believe that all pastors and/or preachers are suspect.I fully realize that some of those who profess to be pastors and/or preachers fall short because they were not called of God to fill that role. The evidence is there in that they do not preach because of calling or burden, but out of a desire to hold the position. Yet, I do not believe this describes the majority of those who are pastors and preachers today. Most that I know are good and humble men who simply desire to be used of the Lord. They have a hunger for His Word. They seek to pursue God, and to faithfully feed the flock of God over which the Holy Spirit has made them overseer (cf. Acts 20:28).

Most pastors, that I have known, are not pastoring large churches, but they lovingly feed and shepherd the flock. They are not the recipients of large salary packages, but they trust the Lord to meet their needs. They are men who hope the Lord returns before they get to old age, because they have nothing to retire on. Most of these pastors grow weary, but they labor on. They become stressed, but they learn to rest in the peace of God. They often feel betrayed, but they continue to love the flock, and the individuals of the flock. They are simply men who sensed the call of God, and they could not reject it. They, with full surrender to the call, have dedicated their lives to the task of faithfully loving, feeding, protecting, and shepherding the flock of God. They do so with little recognition, and even less praise, but that does not deter them because they are simply longing to hear the “Well done thou good and faithful servant” from the One who called them.
