“A Few Good Men” I Chronicles 9:13 KJB
“A Few Good Men”
“And their brethren, heads of the house of their fathers, a thousand and seven hundred and threescore; very able men for the work of the service of the house of God. ” I Chronicles 9:13
1. The Men Were Accountable, “…heads of the house… ” responsible men. Men that didn’t shy away or pass off their duties as a leader.
2. The Men Were Abundant, well over a thousand men. Not just one man doing it all, but several men working together for the glory of God. One thousand, seven hundred and sixty men all focused on the task at hand.
3. The Men Were Able, even very able. These men were men of might, strength and character. Ready and prepared for the work God had given them. 4.
The Men Were Active, “…for the work of the service …” These men were not only leaders among their families, but they also committed themselves to serve in the work of God. This type of man is very rare in our day. They were committed, consistent and content in God’s work.
5. The Men Were Affectionate in that they loved God’s house. They served well because they not only loved the • house of God, but they also loved the God of the house! This is the first and great commandment, “…thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength:… ” (Mark 12:30).
May we see men of this quality loving, laboring and loyal to the Lord in our day! — E.B. ERIC BLANKENSHIP, Pastor, Unity Baptist Church, Hickory, NC
