A 2025 Gallup poll indicates that only 36% of Democrats say they are either “very proud” or “extremely proud” of America. Independent voters indicated that only 53% of them are either very proud or extremely proud of America. Contrast this with 92% of Republicans polled who profess to be “very” or “extremely” proud of America (an increase of 7 percentage points from 2024).

It’s interesting that the very people responsible politically for turning America into a modern day Sodom and Gomorrah and to one big killing field for babies in the womb, etc. would hate everything about America that is worthy of national love and pride. It isn’t surprising that people who have literally made themselves the “enemy within” and to their own country would not be proud of what America has traditionally stood for and against throughout her history.

The recent Gallup poll is just one indicator of how decades of godless and anti-American propaganda has radicalized probably 30 to 40 percent of our citizenry against their own country. This is the result of Marxist propaganda, pounded relentlessly into the heads of two generations by an educational system, entertainment industry and media dominated by Marxist ideology and agenda.

Americans, especially Christians, need to be reminded and reminding one another that it’s okay to love this country. Americans have special reasons, and every right, to love and be proud of our heritage and our Judeo-Christian culture. “American Exceptionalism,” a concept hated by the Left, is real and ought to be gratefully and proudly embraced. The Word of God clearly reveals that God identified individual nations, Personally set their boundaries, and supports the respect of nations for one another’s boundaries: “ And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation” (Acts 17:2).

America is not without her faults and transgressions that can be, and should be, corrected and repented of. But in the over-all scheme of things, in terms of the historical record of moral pluses and minuses, and on the basis of any system of comparison that factors in the youth of this nation against the relative antiquity of almost every other nation on earth, America comes out eons and eons out ahead of them all.

As Americans, we should love America with a love that makes us hate everything sinful and shameful that compromises our ability to be proud of our country. It is right for us to have the same sentiment about America that the psalmist had for Jerusalem and Israel: “If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning. “ If I do not remember thee, let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth; if I prefer not Jerusalem above my chief joy” (Ps. 137:5, 6).
