“When Does God Change Concerning Sin?” II Timothy 4:3-4
“When Does God Change Concerning Sin?”
“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. ” II Timothy 4:3-4
People change, times change, fashions change, but does God change? The answer is a definite—No! The Bible plainly tells us that God does not change (cf. Mal. 3:6). Yet today, what used to be sin is no longer considered to be sin. What is it that changes sin from being sinful to acceptable? It is not God! It is not God’s Word! It is the hardness of men’s hearts to the truth.
Now the Word of God does not change, but man’s belief in what the Bible says changes. This is what the apostle called fables. Fables turn the truth into that which is acceptable, popular and what folk want it to be. Conviction of sin is no longer an issue because there is no longer any sin to be convicted of committing. Sin, that was once considered to be sinful, is now not sin at all!
Many once lived their lives convicted by the Word of God and the Holy Spirit, concerning things that were condemned as sinful. They for years held these convictions. Preachers preached these as convictions, and no one questioned that sin was condemned by the Word of God. Then over the years sin became popular and acceptable. Now, if that conviction of sin came from the Spirit of God and the Word of God, that doesn’t change—who changed? Was it you? — M.D MURRAY DOUGLAS, Pastor, Ludlow Hill Baptist Church, Lawrenceburg, IN
