“The Pit Of Hatred”

“The Pit Of Hatred”
“Then took they Jeremiah, and cast him into the dungeon
of Malchiah the son of Hammelech, that was in the court of the
prison: and they let down Jeremiah with cords. And in the
dungeon there was no water, but mire: so Jeremiah sunk in the
mire. ” Jeremiah 38:6
Jeremiah had been falsely accused by the Jewish captain
of the guards. They claimed that he was guilty of treason and
arrested, beat and imprisoned him. They received permission
to throw him into an empty cistern, covered with a thick layer
of mud at the bottom. This was done because they didn’t like
the message that Jeremiah preached. They simply hated him
for telling them the truth.
“The Pit of Hatred” is still active today for those men who
stand for truth. Many don’t want to hear that they are sinners
and need the Saviour. They want preachers to proclaim
“smooth sayings” to them. Sitting in our churches are those
that don’t want to hear “Hell-fire and brimstone” preaching, or
preaching on the judgement of God. Many want a “watered
down” sermonette that makes them feel good about
themselves. God’s men are often attacked and falsely accused
because of God’s message they deliver. I encourage every
man of God to keep firing straight and true in these last days.
May we preach as dying men to a dying people and nation.
Stay true to the message of truth, even if it gets you in a pit!
Jeremiah was soon delivered from his predicament and so will
you dear servant of God. – R.G.
