“Got That Little Chore Out Of The Way?”

“Got That Little Chore Out Of The Way?”
“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as
the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so
much the more, as ye see the day approaching.”
Hebrews 10:25
Attending church, or worship services, to some can be a
burdensome task. Just the process of getting ready for church,
gathering up the family, and the travel to and from church, can
be a tiresome ordeal. And when a family finally returnshome
from after Sunday service, they may be thinking, “We got that
little ‘chore’ out of the way.” My friend, may I say something
to you, if you have that mindset, here are some questions to
ponder:
Are you attending the wrong church? Do you have the
wrong pastor? Is it possible that you may be the problem? Ah,
there it is! “Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith;
prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that
Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?” (II Cor.13:5).
Is it possible you have iniquity in your heart? (see Psa. 66:18).
Listen, attending church is not a chore. It should be “rest” and
not “stress.” Your family members are there. Jesus said, “For
whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and
my sister, and mother.” (Mark 3:35). I am reminded of
another verse, when a father begged for the healing of his son,
“And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said
with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.” (Mark
9:24). Perhaps, you may need to cry out to Jesus for some help
along the way … to church! -G.W.
