“Mistakes In The Bible?”
“Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples:”
and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends
of the world are come.” I Corinthians 10:11
Mistakes in the Bible? Oh, yes, there are many mistakes
in the Bible, even too many to list. I must hasten to say, that all
of the mistakes that are recorded in the Scriptures were made
by men, not God! God has been dealing with man for a few
thousand years, and He has yet to make His first mistake.
Wow, what a record! What a wise God we have. So, all the
mistakes in the Bible have been made by men-actually, the
first few were made by a woman. We will mention those and
hopefully learn from them. “Wherefore let him that thinketh
he standeth take heed lest he fall” (I Cor. 10:12).
The first mistake Eve made was failing to recognize the
enemy. She thought the serpent was a friend trying to help her.
Eve erred when she listened and entered into a discussion with
him. Her biggest mistake was to doubt what God had already
said. We must decide that what God has said is true, and
anything that contradicts His Word is a lie. “Trust in the
LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own
understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall
direct thy paths” (Pro. 3:5-6).
There is not space to write about Adam’s mistakes (more
accurately called “sins”). May God help us to read the Bible,
see the mistakes that people have made, and the consequences
of those mistakes … and not repeat them. – R.C.
