“Some Simple Blessings Of Being Born Again” “…Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom ofGod ” John 3: 3b
Those of you that read these writings of mine know that I ” make a great effort to be simple. There are many deep and theological nuances of being a born again child of God. The future of the born again person is literally out of this world! Not one of my four simple blessings will be in the category of abstract or complicated. I will attempt to relate a spiritual birth with that of a natural birth.
Jesus talked to Nicodemus about both births in John 3:6. First, when a baby is born into this world it has NO past! Those of us who have been born again also enjoy the blessing of having NO past. For so it is with all our sins, they are cleansed by the blood of Christ and blotted out! Glory! (see II Cor. 5:17 with Acts 3:19). Secondly, when a baby is brought into this world naturally it is a completed accomplishment. So too, when we are saved we are completely and totally converted to Jesus Christ (II Cor. 5:17 works here also). Next, when a child is born, it is born hungry and desires physical food to nourish its body. When a sinner is saved his appetites and desires are for the sincere milk of the Word (I Peter 2:2) and later he needs some meat (cf. Heb. 5:12-14). Lastly, and not to be redundant, it is a fmal act. The baby is born and the sinner is saved, and it can’t be undone. One is saved eternally—period! The baby may not be perfect, nor the saint. The human child is in the family and the saved are in God’s family. What a blessing to be in the family of God! — T.G.
