All The Lord’s People Numbers 11:29
“All The Lord’s People” “…would God that all the LORD’s people were prophets, and that the LORD would put his spirit upon them! ” Numbers 11:29 KJB
This exclamation comes from the heart of Moses in response to the events that unfolded in Numbers 11. The chapter begins with two problems—the people complaining in verse one, then the mixed-multitude lusting in verse four. Moses reaches the pinnacle of frustration in verse fourteen, when he tells God that he’s ready to quit! The people are saying “give us flesh” and the man of God is saying “give me help.” Both thought that the best solution was for God to provide miraculously. However, God had a different plan. God’s solution was not to immediately provide for His people. God’s solution was His Spirit on all! When God came down and met with His people, the result was an outpouring of the Spirit of God that interrupted things. When Joshua asked Moses to put a stop to it, Moses’ response confirmed the true need of the hour. What the people needed was not physical satisfaction but rather the power and presence of God upon their lives. The need of this hour is for all of God’s people to have the power and presence of the Spirit of God. What a great work for God could be accomplished if the power of God was not just present with the preacher in the pulpit, but also in the hearts and lives of the people in the pew! May all the Lord’s people desire and thirst for the power of God by returning to the Word of God and the prayer closet. — L.P. February 17, 2020 REV.
