Prayers That Get Answered Luke 18:10 (KJB)

“Prayers That Get Answered” “Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a ▪ Pharisee, and the other a publican.” Luke 18:10 The contrast between these two prayer “warriors” is as • vast as the difference between the Niagara Falls and a raindrop or Mount Everest and an ant hill. There is really no quantitative similarity between these two men or sinners! The Pharisee rehearsed all his supposed credentials that he hoped might give him some special credit with the God of Heaven. The publican came to the Lord as bankrupt as a beggar or as homeless as a derelict on the streets of San Francisco. Prayers that get answered are those that come from the broken, contrite, humble heart of the one beseeching a blessing from our great and holy Benefactor. Prayers, that seem to “boss” God around end up in the trash bin of disregarded, selfish prayers. Prayers that beg God from the “high ground” of humility get answered, long before any that come from the swamp land of selfish arrogance. God still resists the proud and gives grace to the humble (see I Peter 5:5 with James 4:16). Prayer, praying and being prayed for are the greatest gifts we can give and the best gifts we can receive. I am always encouraged when a friend says or someone writes and says, “I’m praying for you.” Dr. Randy Pike, my dear friend and often the powerful writer within these pages wrote, “For saved Christians, the sweetest way to Heaven is to walk there on your knees.” Well, friends, I’ll meet you on the way to Glory or at our eternal destination; either way, it will be on our knees and by His grace. — T.G.
