We applaud Luther’s stand leading to the Reformation and do not believe Baptists are the only Christians, but there are some technical reasons Baptist are not Protestant.
(1) They never were a part of the Catholic Church. We have never believed the church was a universal entity on earth with one man as the head. Instead, there were groups like the Albigenses and Waldenses who existed before the Reformation that practiced Baptist beliefs.
(2) Luther still asserted the State Church, Infant Sprinkling, and a Universal church on earth as well as asserting sacraments of the Lord’s Supper and Baptism instead of ordinances.
(3) All Christians were not in the Catholic church and now we have two groups of Catholics and Protestants afterward. I have no affinity with Catholicism now and ever. Instead, we follow what the Bible says about baptism, the church, freedom from government regulation, and sponsorship salvation.

You’ll get more information on this vital topic. Luther did get it right on Justification by Faith and Biblical authority although he retained some Catholic practices.
