Isaac McCoy week part 1- an introduction.
It is hard to gauge the impact that one person can have. Or one family for that matter. Isaac’s father William was the first permanent pastor of Silver Creek- the first Baptist Church in Indiana. Isaac would pastor as many as five churches at a time. His two bothers Rice and James would pastor and found several churches each. Isaac would start six mission stations and found churches in Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, Kansas and the first Baptist church in Oklahoma. He would tireless spread the gospel to the Indians both through preaching in the villages as well as through schools. He would also be the first to preach in Chicago. Amidst all of this he would make many trips overland through harsh conditions to Washington on behalf of the Indians. Over the next two weeks we will look at what books and materials are available as well as have some video sermons on aspects of McCoy’s life. Several of the books currently in print are compilations of several works and I will review the components separately.
