Irrespective Impatience
“Irrespective Impatience” “For ye have need ofpatience, …” Hebrews 10:36a How often have we jumped to a conclusion, only to regret the consequences of our impatience? Whatever benefit there may be in patience, it is very clear there is none to being impatient. Proverbs 18:13 reminds us to be careful about answering another before hearing from both sides. If you don’t, it may be a folly and shame to you. Impatience usually is improper, inexpedient, inappropriate and inadvisable. Did you hear about that farm dog named August? One day he jumped at the conclusion of a mule, and that was the last day ofAugust! An impatient backseat driver is impudent and impertinent, meaning they are offensively forward in behavior, rude and presumptuous. A man’s car stalled one morning on a busy highway, and no matter what he tried, he could not get it started. Traffic was backed up and one guy in a pickup truck was just blowing his horn! The driver walked back to the fellow in the truck and said, “I’m sorry, but I can’t get my car started. If you will go up there and give it a try, I’ll stay here and blow your horn!” An impatient spirit is unsuitable and very unbecoming. Whatever you are, being impatient is one of the worst of traits. I once heard you can just about do anything if you just have patience. You can even carry water in a sieve, if you just wait until it freezes! We all have some need of more patience! G.T.
