“Connected Truth”
” … what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?” Micah 6:8b
There is no conflict between mercy and justice, between loving mercy and doing justly. As a matter of fact, it’s necessary that they be united. If I do not love mercy, I will not do justly. I won’t be equal and just with people, and I won’t make a just application of the truth.
Mercy creates a buffer that will allow me to communicate truth to people that are not in line with the truth. I deal with people in mercy. I don’t change the truth, but I exercise mercy while I teach truth. That will enable them to receive truth and make it more palatable to them. It will make it easier for them to receive and apply it.
We have to be careful that we do not endorse the devil’s methods to get God’s work done. The enemy is an intimidator. He intimidates people into doing wrong. God never intended for me to intimidate people into doing right, to insult them into doing right, to get them to do right by being harsh and unkind. God intended for me to love people to righteousness and use truth with a mercy that makes it easier to receive, to help people to come to the knowledge of the truth and do what is right. God intended for mercy, truth and justice to be united. -D.C
