Baptist History, Heritage and Distinctives – Historic & Scriptural Baptist Position Concerning the Kingdom of God
PART EIGHT of NINE
The Third Aspect of the Kingdom of God
There is yet one more aspect to the Kingdom of God which is often not considered. This is the final aspect following the Millennial Reign and the Great White Throne judgment. This is when the Lord yields it all up to the Father and there will be a new heaven and a new earth (Rev. 21:1).
This is spoken of in 1 Cor. 15:24-28 “24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. 25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. 26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. 27 For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him. 28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.”
This aspect of the kingdom is also mentioned by Peter in 2 Peter 3:10-13 when the elements (of this present heaven and earth) shall melt with a fervent heat. When the Lord prayed “thy kingdom come” (Matthew 6:10) it is in obvious reference to a future kingdom to come that envelopes all aspects of the Kingdom of God as we know it.
