“Oatmeal Creme Pies”

“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever “Hebrews 13:8

I love “Little Debbie” products and especially their oatmeal cakes. The only problem I see with “Little Debbie” pies and sweets is if you eat enough of them you will tum into a “Big Deborah!” (I only know two or three Debbies, so I’m not talking about you and I don’t know one “Big Deborah!”)

I read the box and the story of these goodies was written by a Debbie McKee-Fowler, the granddaughter of the founder of this company decades ago. In essence they are baking, producing and delivering these products with the same high standards and tried-and-true philosophy her granddad had three generations ago. Their promise: “Quality, freshness and taste” and they’ve never varied.

I see in our churches way too much change. Our Saviour doesn’t change why do we, His servants? The same ingredients that made us great are still available—why change and come up with an inferior product? What ingredients you might ask? Prayer, commitment to Christ, the Spirit-filled life, Holy-living, separation, soul winning, music that honors God, not the singer or group, and etc. Too much today is a reflection of the world and not the resonance of the Redeemer in our lives, homes and ministries. Jesus is the same—Why can’t we stay the same?

The wise man wrote, “…meddle not with them that are given to change: For their calamity shall rise suddenly; and who knoweth the ruin of them both?” (Pro. 24:21a & 22). — T.G.
