“Yes, I Know—Do You?”
“But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee.” John 11:22

When Martha heard that Jesus was coming to visit after her brother’s death, she approached Christ, and talked to Him concerning her knowledge of what He could do. Notice in verses 22 and 24, that she uses the words, I know. Have you ever used the phrase, “Yes, I know”? It implies that the truth to which we are referring is obvious, and sometimes it means that we take that truth for granted. She spoke of her knowledge of what Jesus could have done if He had arrived before Lazarus’ death, and spoke of her knowledge of the future resurrection of saints. In these verses, Martha was talking to Jesus as her friend. Then He reminds her that He was more than her friend; He was her Creator (vss. 25-26). Notice how this changed Martha’s response in verse 27. Rather than speaking from a position of knowledge, she spoke from a place of belief.

Likewise, we may possess academic knowledge of key Bible truths, but do we truly believe them? We might say, “Yes, I know that the Bible is the Word of God” or “Yes, I know that God answers prayer” or “Yes, I know that Jesus is coming back.” The truths may have been taught and learned, but these facts do not transform the Christian’s life unless they are believed. Knowledge of these truths is not enough. The point is this, do you live like you believe these truths? If they are believed it will show in your daily life. They are life changing!! — D.H. REV.
