“Lessons From Animals”
“A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.” Proverbs 12 : 10
Animals were created on the sixth day of creation and have lived simultaneously with mankind ever since. Many animals have been tamed and can bring much enjoyment. We have a zoo nearby our home, where we can go and view animals from all over the world. Each creature has unique features and characteristics, and all were made by our amazing God! Ever since I can remember, my dad has had a dog. He would either find a stray somewhere or get a puppy from a friend. My dad has always had a tender heart towards animals, and he always took such good care of them. His dog, Bo, a chocolate lab, had become quite old and frail, and it was even hard for Bo to get around in the yard. My father finally took him to the veterinarian to be put to sleep, and I know it was a sad day for my dad. When my mother called to tell me about it, the Lord reminded me of our text verse: “A righteous man regardeth the life ofhis beast:… ” Do you have a family pet or own any livestock? If you do, the Bible admonishes us to be kind to them, and to see them as being created by God. Now, they do not have a soul like us, but all animals have certain temperaments. They were all created for His glory and our enjoyment. We know from Scripture that horses will be in Heaven, too (cf. Rev. 19:14). Enjoy your pets as a gift from God. — S.T.
