“The Life Of Faith”
“Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.” Psalm 27: 14
From start to finish the earthly Christian life is one of faith. Genuine faith comes first by hearing the Word of God (cf. Rom. 10:17). Faith is not seeing but believing. No one sees the wind but they believe in it. We are saved through faith in Christ (cf. Eph. 2:8), which gives us total and absolute justification before God (cf. Rom. 5:1). Then we walk by faith (cf. II Cor. 4:17), and live by faith (Rom. 1:17; Gal. 3:11 with Hab. 2:4). Hebrews chapter eleven lists countless people named and anonymous who died in faith during the Old Testament era. Read this chapter and see how and what some of them suffered before dying! Their common sense and practical actions went hand in hand with true faith, which produces true works (cf. James 3:17). An African Christian said, “I tie my horse to a tree then pray, ‘God take care of my horse for me.”‘ In Neh. 4:9, we note that wise men in danger, make their prayer and then set a watch. If you have a flat tire, don’t ask God to fix it; that’s your job!! Remember, God feeds the sparrows, but they have to go looking for it. One hand washes the other, and both are clean for… “two are better than one” (Eccl. 4:9). True faith and works kiss each other. In this holy atmosphere the Spirit speaks and hearts hear. Our Lord takes His time to do His work! Trusting faith, quietly waits on Him. — R.P.
