Pearls Of Pain I Peter 4:12-13
“Pearls Of Pain” “…think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you: …But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partners of Christ’s suffering; …” I Peter 4:12b & 13a
Got any irritations in your life? If it were not for irritations we would be very patient, wouldn’t we? We could wade calmly through life’s placid sea and never encounter a ripple. Unfortunately, irritations make up the major occupational hazards of the human race. Truly for us believers, God is concerned with the development of our inner character. He charts our growth toward maturity. He concerns Himself with the cultivation of priceless, attractive qualities that make us Christ-like deep within. Does God allow the irritations to see if we will tune them into PEARLS? Pearls are the products of pain. An oyster is pierced and an alien substance, grain of sand, slips inside the oyster’s shell. Upon entry of this object, all the resources within the oyster begin the release of healing fluids that otherwise would be dormant. Over time, the irritant is covered and the wound is healed by the pearl. No other gem has so fascinating a history. It is a symbol of stress a wound healed. A precious jewel is conceived through irritation, born of adversity, nursed by adjustments. Had there been no wound, no irritant, no interruption, there could not have been a PEARL. The Bible says that the entrance to our heavenly Home will be through Gates of Pearl. Those who go through those gates need no explanation. They are the ones who have been wounded and bruised, responding to the sting of irritations with the PEARL of adjustment. — D. OHM February 19, 2020
