Salvation Is More … Luke 13:3 (KJB)

“Salvation Is More” “I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” Luke 13:3 Salvation is more than nodding the head or tipping the hat in an acknowledgement of Jesus. This writer is of the opinion, the greatest need of the hour is for church members to get saved. The main reason serving God has become such a drudgery to multitudes in the church, is the fact they are not saved. I may startle someone by saying, it is altogether possible for unsaved people to go through the mechanics of religion. But, as the preacher said, “…having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof … “. (cf. II Tim 3:5). When the unconverted attempt to serve God, it becomes a burden instead of a joy. They earn no eternal rewards. It’s true, they sometimes gain self-adulation and gratification. Saved people naturally want to serve. Their nature has been so changed they enjoy serving God. They will serve Him without being coaxed or asked, begged or bribed. Paul said, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, …”. (Eph. 2:8-10a). He makes it very clear we were created in Christ for the express purpose of working for Him. Paul, the Apostle, was probably more zealous for works while he was yet, Saul of Tarsus, than any other man has ever been. He learned, however, the works of the unconverted are all to no avail. My sincere and important question is, do you know that you know you are saved? — K.M.
