Sacrifices That Please God—Part II
“Sacrifices That Please God—Part II” “…for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. ” Hebrews 13:16b The first sacrifice is strictly between us and God. It should be a continual sacrifice, performed at least daily. Since a sacrifice must cost us something, this one will cost us the most valuable thing we possess, time. It will also cost us concentration. It cannot be made while watching television, listening to the radio, talking on the phone or texting. Facebook and skyping will have to wait while we make this sacrifice. God calls this sacrifice, “…the fruit of our lips… ” It is simply thanking and praising God for all He is and all He does. This sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving will not earn us favor with God, insure us a place in Heaven or maintain our salvation. It is simply our way of showing gratitude to the One who has done so much for us. God calls it a sacrifice, but it is the least we can do. It is our way of saying: “Thou are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created” (Rev. 4:11). “Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works with rejoicing” (Psalms 107:21-22). Praise God! (cont.) —R.C.
