“Sacrifices That Please God—Part V” “But to do good and to communicate forget not; for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.” Hebrews 13:16 Is it too much now for God to ask us to make some little sacrifices? He wants us to praise and thank Him. He has done good to us; now He wants us to do good to others. “As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household offaith” (Gal. 6:10). There is one more small sacrifice that pleases God. We are to “communicate.” That could mean writing a letter (for you Millennials that would mean sending a text — NOT while driving!) It might mean a phone call to someone who needs some encouragement. In the New Testament, communicate is usually a euphemism for giving money to someone in need or someone who has been a blessing to us. “Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things “(Gal. 6:6). “Notwithstanding ye have well done, that ye did communicate with my affliction. Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only” (Phil. 4:14-15). God is a giver; it pleases Him when we give. We talk about giving to God, but we can only give to God by giving to others. Jesus said, “…It is more blessed to give than to receive ” (Acts 20:35). — R.C.
