“Christ Gives–His Glory”

“And the glory which thou gayest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: ” John 17:22

This gift is perhaps another most neglected gift found around the family tree of faith. The goal of this precious gift is the unity of the brethren. Sometimes we don’t even have family harmony or church member union; let alone with brothers and sisters of another church of like faith, let alone a genuinely saved man of another denomination! The catalyst that is the cause of Christ-like glory in our lives is found in verse 23: “I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. ” The wonderful truth of His indwelling presence should make all the difference in our lives, homes, ministries and churches. Christ in us and God in Him, puts us into a wonderful place and enviable position as a sinner saved by His marvelous grace! We have been predestinated to be conformed to His image, called, justified and glorified (see. Rom. 8:29-30). Perhaps the missing ingredient or the “Star” absent from the Christmas tree of our lives is found in John 17:26, “… the love wherewith thou has loved me may be in them, … ” He then says, “…I in them. ” There is no clear cause or sensible reason for us to not know His gift of glory. John writes years later, “… love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death. ” (I John3:14b) —T.G.
