Isaac McCoy week part 3/ Snapshots from my library 23 History of Baptist Indian Missions by Isaac McCoy

While I have been reviewing strictly printed books that I have- I am making an exception in this case for a book that was actually written by McCoy. To really get a grasp of McCoy’s ministry this book is a must. This details most of McCoy’s missionary activities, the sufferings faced by the mission family, his travels and dealings with the board. You really get a heart for his burden for the Native Americans, their plight and need for the gospel. It is important to note that in order to get a full scope of McCoy’s work we must go beyond this book. McCoy tends to be a bit understated and brief in his details. You must often fill in details from other sources. (which the other biographers did.) I have found he is often lacking in listing names and he had a much greater impact than what he details in the book. As an example the McCoy family was beset by tragedy after tragedy in sickness on the frontier yet McCoy does not here list the names of his children and simply gives us a small glimpse of his pain in tragedy. There are also large areas of McCoy’s life that this book does not cover including his early ministry in Indiana. I have not as yet gotten a physical copy and in this case an electronic copy has been to my advantage. I am approximately 200 pages into writing a book on McCoy so I have been able to cut and paste easier in this format. There have been a couple of reprints that have been made. Particular Baptist Press had them available until just recently (not currently listed.) Applewood Books in their native American series also makes reprints https://www.applewoodbooks.com/Search.aspx?k=mccoy Originals are exceedingly rare- the last one to come up on ebay was about 300 dollars and in very poor condition at that. Archive has a free online version as well as download links in several formats including PDF and Kindle. https://archive.org/details/baptistindianmiss00mccorich
