Travels in Baptist History 11- The Waldensian Trail of Faith Part 1

There are so many places in the world I would like to visit- but I am sure that my travels would be quite different than most. One of the places would be the Angrogna valley in Italy where the Waldensians lived. (As well as some other Waldensian sites.) I doubt this is a trip I would ever get to make. I always believe that the best way to understand history is to experience it first hand. There is a sense of place that comes from that experience. I feel like I got a little taste of this though last week in visiting the Waldensian Trail of Faith in Valdese, NC. This is an incredible immersive experience. A group of Waldensians founded the town of Valdese in the late 1800’s when many came to America. Here they have reconstructed several key sites in their (and our) history. They painstakingly measured the originals and reconstructed them. Adding to the immersion is a dramatized audio that goes along with each location. This is incredibly well done and at times can move you to tears. We will look at those locations this week along with many photos. We will start tomorrow with the Barbi College.
