“Love Your Church

“Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;” Ephesians 5:25

Our Lord and Saviour established the local church in Matthew 16:18 (not Peter). He gets glory through the local church as stated in Ephesians 3:21. He warns against neglecting attendance in the local church in Hebrews 10:25. Jesus is referring to HIS local churches, not false religion’s counterfeit assemblies with counterfeit bibles, counterfeit salvation, and counterfeit practices. Jesus loved the church, giving himself for it-Do you?

Not only is the local, Bible-believing church necessary for the Christian and the whole family, it is the foundation and standard for our country. Alexis De Tocqueville (1805-1859), author of the first analytical study of America wrote in 1835 the following: “I sought for the greatness of America in her harbors and rivers and fertile fields, and her mines and commerce. It was not there. Not until I went into the Churches and heard her pulpits flame with righteousness, did I understand the greatness of her power. America is great because she is good; and if America ever ceases to be good, America will cease to be great.” Oh, how far the crown has fallen from our nation’s furrowed brow! “Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; … ” (Psa. 33:12).

Church pulpits will only flame with fire if they follow God’s instruction to Paul in II Timothy 4:2, to preach the Word. How do you love? Support and pray for your church and its pastor and people. – C.S.
