Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” Matthew 7:14
“Lane Assist” “Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” Matthew 7:14
I rented a car not long ago that was set, I suppose by the previous renter, on “Lane Assist.” I had no idea how to turn off the incessant buzzer every time I passed another car or dozed off and went off the road! On a subsequent rental, I learned what it was and what it was for, and yes, it was a Godsend. It also got me faithfully turning on my blinkers to pass slow pokes and make other drivers aware of my intentions or warn them that the old guy was about to do something he planned or hoped to do-pass! Anyway, it is a pretty valuable component in most new cars (Mine is 22 years old!) Wouldn’t it be great, that once we got on the “strait and narrow way” that leads to life (and not just a new life that is far better, but one that leads to eternal life forever in Glory) that we would never have even a glimmer of interest in the way or roads we once travelled. II Corinthians 5:17 proclaims it is a new way and the old paths are completely abandoned. The contrasting “broad way” leads to heartache along the road of life and destruction at the end of the road! It’s not just a deadend, but an eternity without hope or God forever. The Bible in your hand, the Holy Spirit’s indwelling, Christ in your heart and your pastor’s faithful preaching are the holy ‘Lane Assists’ on the fenders of your life to keep you straight. The old song we used to sing had the lyrics, “No turning back … no turning back.” Beep, beep … forget the horn … stay in your lane! – T.G.
