Keep The Faith II Thessalonians 2:1-2
“Keep The Faith” “Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, That ye be not so soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.” II Thessalonians 2:1-2
These two verses are the introduction to the subject of the Anti-Christ. Perverted teaching of prophecy was prevalent and false teachers were teaching it in the name of Paul. They were even writing epistles as forgeries and signing Paul’s name (verse 2). This should be a warning to us of how to approach our Bible and faith in its exact words. If false epistles were written in Paul’s lifetime, if there were perverters of the Gospel, as Paul warns in Galatians 1:7, if there were ministers of Satan who transformed themselves into ministers of righteousness, as in II Corinthians 11:15, then we should know that an accurate Bible could never be transmitted to us by man-but by God! This is the guarantee of Psalm 12:6; Mark 13:31; Revelation 22:18-19 and other Scriptures. An infallible Bible in every word is not the work of scholars but the Author of the Scriptures. Paul assures the Thessalonians of their part in rapture in verse one and the effect it is to have in verse two. The “blessed hope” (Titus 2:13) is to be the great establishing fact of our present attitude: ” … be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled … “. Any spirit, word or letter from any source is not to change our faith in I Thessalonians 4:13-18, … comfort one another with these words.” -H.N. DR. HERB NOE, (Deceased), Livonia, MI.
