“Forgive, Members Like This? Yes!”

“And they said, Hath the LORD indeed spoken by Moses?
hath he not spoken also by us? And the LORD heard it. “
Numbers 12:2

The worst thing that can happen to a church is for its
members to find fault with one another. The most destructive
thing of all is for the members to go around magnifying the
weakness of the pastor. He’s just as human as they are! He
makes mistakes, he has trials and temptations, but he doesn’t
need a Miriam and an Aaron to criticize him and question his
stand for God. He needs an Aaron and Hur to stand with him
and lift his hands in prayer. Any man of God who stands
against sin and stands firmly for God has enough opposition
on the outside. It’s tragic and often disastrous when the
preacher’s so-called “friends” on the inside join the evil forces
of opposition on the outside.
In Matthew, chapter 18, verses 34 and 35, the implications
are astronomical. I cannot fathom or comprehend all our Lord
is saying: “And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the
tormentors …. ” In verse 35, “So likewise shall my heavenly
Father do also unto you ,… ” Do what? He delivered him to the
tormentors. IfI may be candid and frank, that verse frightens me.
A courtier once asked Alexander the Great for financial
assistance. Alexander was impressed by the boldness of the
request and instructed the courtier to tell his treasurer to give
him the amount needed. The treasurer came to Alexander and
said, “I think you have made a mistake. This man has requested an enormous sum.” Alexander replied, “I didn’t
make a mistake, he treated me like a King in asking and I want
to treat him like a King in giving. Give him what he asked
for.” We need to approach God and His people in the same
manner. We all belong to Him! -K.M.
