“Standing in an Evil Day”
“Standing in an Evil Day”
“Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that
ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, … “
Ephesians 6:13a
The evil day is the day when the devil comes with
everything he has. The devil is after you every day, but the evil
day is the day of heartbreak and sorrow and loss. That’s the
day Job faced. Job lost his wealth, his health, his children, and
he lost the support of his wife, his friends, and everybody he
knew. He lost his servants. He lost virtually everything that
he had. That was the evil day.
But Job did not allow the enemy to win the victory in his
life. Job maintained his integrity and stayed within the
boundary of the will of God. Even though the hedge had been
let down by God to prove him, he never left the boundaries that
God had established.
If I’m within the boundary of what God says in His Word,
if I’m within the standards of the Word of God, when the attack
comes, I’d better not move at all. God is proving me to the
devil. God is going to close the accusing mouth of the devil by
permitting him to touch me, with limitations.
That’s what happened to Job. He was right with God.
This was not the chastening hand of God or God judging sin in
Job’s life. God was proving to the devil that Job was a better
saint than the devil said he was! -D.C.
