Bowers, Charles M., D.D., was born in Boston, Jan. 10,1817. He graduated at Brown University in the class of 1838. Having spent one year in the Newton Theological Institution, he was ordained pastor of the church in Lexington, Mass., Sept. 9, 1841. The relation continued for four years,— 1841-45,—-when he decided to accept a call to the church in- Clinton, Mass., where he has been the pastor ever since. He was a member of the Mas- sachusetts Legislature one year,—the session of 1865-66. For twelve years he has been the effi- cient secretary of the Massachusetts Baptist State Convention.
