Ralph H., son of Ralph H. and Rebecca Bowles, was born in Hartford, Conn. ; fitted for college in Connecticut Literary Institu- tion; graduated at Trinity College in 1848; re- ceived the degree of A.M. in 1851 ; was ordained as pastor of the Baptist church in Tariffville, Conn., in 1850; settlements afterward were in Branford, Conn.; Lee, Brighton, West Newton, Lee (second time), Mass. ; Greenbush, N.
