“Watch Out For Enticements”
“My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not. “
Proverbs 1:10

King Solomon is warning his son about the enticements of
the world. They are there, and we are going to be tempted to
sin. To be enticed implies to be led on or attracted in hopes of
getting some pleasure or profit from the enticement.

One of the biggest manufacturers of enticement is
Hollywood. They provide twenty-four hour, seven days a
week enticement. They entice you to: disregard
righteousness, be your own man, do your own thing, live it
up-you only live once! God only knows how many saints
have been put out of the race by this satanic cesspool called
Hollywood.

The Bible is full of examples of such allurements and the
end results. The serpent and Eve, Samson and his friends,
David and Bathsheba and on and on we could go. (They never
even knew of Hollywood!) Solomon warns his son that all
these folks want to do is lead you into evil (vs. 16). There is no
pleasure in riotous living. Ask the young man in Luke 15.
There is no profit in taking another man’s wife. Ask King
David in II Sam. 11&12. The pleasure in stealing a young
woman’s virtue, just to satisfy one’s lust, only leads to
disappointment and death. Just ask Amnon (II Sam. 13). So,
the advice of the father to the son, advice you need to take, was
“if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.” I highly
recommend this wise advice from a man of greatwisdom … Solomon. – P.H.
