“A Look At The Master (3 Levels Of Queries)” – Luke 3:10, 3:12, 3:14
“A Look At The Master (3 Levels Of Queries)”
” … the people asked him ,… What shall we do then?”
Luke 3:10
” … also publicans … said … Master, what shall we do?”
Luke 3:12
” … the soldiers … demanded … And what shall we do?”
Luke 3:14
People, publicans and soldiers basically asked the same
question of the Master-What shall we do?
To the people the Master replied, “Be generous.”Generosity in the life of a Christian ought to be common place and a regular activity. Giving is an integral part in the “grass roots” of a genuinely born-again child of God. It begins with tithing and grows into a life style of “Give, and it shall be
given unto you; “ (Luke 6:38). (Then having more to give!)
Christ’s admonition or response to the publicans was in
essence, “Be honest.” Apparently, people in that line of work
were less than fair and inherently dishonest. Zacchaeus, was
the prime example of this trait and upon conversion, he
confessed and determined to make things right (cf. Luke 19:8
& 9). Are there things in regard to honesty and reparations that
need to be made in your life?
The soldiers demanded. (I guess some were used to giving
orders!) The Lord responded with a 3-fold command in regard
to their future conduct: “No violence, No false accusations and
Be satisfied with your paycheck.” That little trio of trends in
one’s life would solve a lot of problems in every facet of life.
I believe if you will ask the Master your question–He will
answer you, but will you obey Him? Now that is the question!
