“Character” Psalm 1:6
“Character”
“For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the
way of the ungodly shall perish. ” Psalm 1:6
Titus said that the Cretians are always liars (Titus 1:12);
and verse thirteen affirms the fact with, “This witness is true.
I have often heard it said and have repeated the semi-serious
statement, “All lawyers are liars.” By the way, all liars do
have a special place reserved in the Lake of Fire according to
Revelation 21:8, with seven other unsavory characters.
In thinking about this a bit, the only lawyer that ever really
helped me was the attorney for the criminal that had stolen a
credit card of mine and charged over $600.00 worth of
Christmas presents for his kids-on my card!! Said legal-
eagle came to court with a Bugs Bunny and Yosemite Sam
cartoon tie on! You ask, “How did he help you?” It was a slam
dunk for the witness and aggrieved party … me! I gave my
testimony before the judge and the barrister never even let him
speak. I won and the poor soul went to jail on the weekends
for several weeks. The crook said when he found out I was a
preacher remarked, “I didn’t know he was a preacher. I
wouldn’t steal from a minister!” What difference does it make
what a man does that one steals from?
Character is birthed from a conscious that is controlled by
a commitment to always endeavor to do what is right.
Character is also conducted by the continuous habit of doing
right instead of what is merely convenient. Character will
close out a life with commendation overriding condemnation.
Winston Churchill, the great leader of Great Britain once said,
“I no longer listen to what people say, I just watch what they
do-behavior never lies!” -T.G.
