“What Are Your Priorities?” Proverbs 3:6
“What Are Your Priorities?”
“In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy
paths. ” Proverbs 3:6
During my school years, I dreaded schoolwork. I wanted
to do as little as possible, just enough to get by, and go out and
play as much as possible. High school English and history
were not my favorites either! I would hurry home, go to my
friend’s house and spend hours working on cars or a
motorcycle. My goals were not the same as my teachers or the
same as my parents, and they were surely not the same as the
Lord Jesus. I conformed enough so that I could get by, and do
my own will. God’s plan wasn’t for me to be a mechanic!
Now, in the ministry, with clear hindsight, I see that His
goal for my life was far different than mine. I wish now that I
had spent more time studying history and English. I have used
those subjects as a pastor every week for decades in the ministry.
As you look back over your life, were your priorities God’s
priorities? Did you surrender to His will, knowing that the
Lord is preparing you, not only for this life, but for reigning
with Him, and for eternity? What a sweet surrender is ours,
when we conform to His will. Here are some principles to
keep you headed toward God’s goal for you:
Glorify Him-Revelation 4:11
Obey Him-I Samuel 15:22
Worship Him-Matthew 4:10
Trust Him-Proverbs 3:5
Love Him-Matthew 22:37
Enjoy Him-John 15:11
One should have more foresight than a schoolboy. Life is
short and eternity is long! -C.S.
