Col.1:13 “translated us into the kingdom of his dear SonMany born again Christians mistakenly make the word “kingdom” to mean salvation. It lends confusion interpreting the Parables & prophecies.Properly defining words makes a difference. WORDS MATTER!The Biblical Greek word for salvation is: soteria/σωτηρία. Some folks claim that kingdom refers to all the saved people in all ages (aion) which would mean the entire family of God (FOG).Nowhere in scripture is FOG called the Kingdom of God.However, if you were to learn the definition of kingdom you would be able to rightly divide the word of God. Basileia is the Biblical Greek word for kingdom; not soteria/σωτηρία = salvation.A kingdom (basileia) is a form of government composed of subjects, laws, ethics, dominion (the right to rule), scepter, king & purpose. The type of government & its laws are contained in a ruling document (KJB)The same laws practiced now in a NT assembly will be implemented during Christ Messianic reign (Rev. 20:6, Mt.24:35, PS. 119:89).There needs to be a people prepared in knowledge & practice to rule with Christ when He returns. Preparation is done within a scriptural NT church which is the VISIBLE EXPRESSION of God’s kingdom with the commandments of God & two ordinances being visibly & Biblically observed. The NT church is a microcosm of the KOG & an aggregate of embassies that are collectively Jesus Christ VISIBLE kingdom. (Lk. 22:29-30)Just so you don’t think this is strictly a Baptist interpretation; allow me to give 2 short definition of basileia from Protestant theologians:Kingdom (basileia) according to E.W.Bullinger (1837-1913) is a royal dominion including the power & form of government with the territory and the kingdom & right to rule over the KOG. Not to be confused with the actual kingdom but rather the right or authority to rule over a kingdom. JosephThayer’s commentary (1828-1901).Faithful members (not all are faithful) of a scriptural NT church = AMBASSADOR for Christ kingdom!2 Cor.5:20 “Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.” (Reconcilerestored relationship, found in favor w/God)
