“God’s Directing Person”

” … and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the
word in Asia,” Acts 16:6b

Notice this great truth-THE HOLY SPIRIT IS A
PERSON! How could the Holy Spirit forbid them to preach
the Word of God in Asia if He were but an “it” or an
“influence”? The personality of the Holy Spirit is one of the
great truths of the Bible, but, oh, how many Christians do not
realize this truth! The Holy Spirit is a PERSON, not an
influence. You cannot become a Christian without His power,
for it is the union of our spirit with the Holy Spirit which gives
you birth into the Kingdom of God (John 3 :5).
If you have any question whatever regarding the
personality of the Holy Spirit, carefully study the sixteenth
chapter of John, and note how many times Jesus used the
personal pronoun “He” when speaking of Him. Here in verse
six, the Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost (for they are One and the
same person) forbade them to go into Asia.
They had been preaching the Word in the region of
Galatia, and no doubt planned to go into Asia, but “were
forbidden of the Holy Ghost ” to do so. Just why they were
forbidden to go into Asia with the Word, God alone knows; but
suppose they had gone eastward instead of westward. The
possibility is that we would be serving heathen gods and
missionaries from China and the east would be coming to
America and western Europe to bring the Gospel to us. Think
about it! -J.Z. R. JOHN ZOLLER, (Deceased), Ada, MI
